Established in July 2021, Hazel’s Buddy was founded by Princella Whatley, a retired New York City Police Officer. After her retirement, Princella embarked on a new journey – one rooted in love, memory, and craftsmanship. The business is named in honor of the parents, Hazel and James, who was affectionately known as “Buddy.”

“They were the epitome of generosity and kindness,” Princella shares. “Through Hazel’s Buddy, I strive to infuse a touch of their warmth and hospitality into every home.”

What began as a passion project has grown into a full-fledged business known for its high-quality ingredients, thoughtful scents, and heartfelt mission. Each candle is hand-poured using 100% soy wax, cotton wicks, and phthalate-free fragrances – making them a cleaner, more sustainable alternative to mass-marketed options.

Popular scents like “Sunday Morning Coffee,” “Lavender Fields at Dusk,” and seasonal favorites such as “Cinnamon Hearth” have earned Hazel’s Buddy a loyal following. Beyond their inviting aromas, The candles are beautifully presented in minimalist amber jars with elegant packaging that makes them perfect for gifting or enhancing your home’s ambiance.

“It’s more than just candles – it’s about creating an atmosphere,” Princella explains. “People light them during their most cherished moments: dinner parties, relaxing baths, journaling, or simply unwinding after a long day.”

Hazel’s Buddy can be found at the Goshen Farmer’s Market, and at Adam’s Fairacre Farms. The brand also offers custom scent consultations, wedding favors, and corporate gifting services.
